  • 4 cups Pillsbury BEST™ All Purpose Flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • OR 1 stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 1 1/3 to 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening, melted
Preparation Directions
  • Step 1Heat oven to 425ºF. Combine flour, cheese, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add milk, mixing with fork until particles are moistened and cling together.
  • Step 2Place on a lightly floured surface and knead 4 to 5 times. Roll to 3/4-inch thick. Cut with 3-inch floured biscuit cutter pushing straight down. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Step 3Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Brush tops with melted butter flavor shortening. Serve warm.
