  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110 to 115ºF)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110 to 115ºF)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening, softened
  • OR 1/4 stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening, softend
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups Pillsbury BEST™ All Purpose Flour, divided
  • Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray

Preparation Directions

  • DISSOLVE yeast in warm water in small bowl; let stand 5 minutes.
  • BEAT together milk, sugar, salt, shortening and eggs in bowl of electric mixer. Add yeast mixture; beat thoroughly. Add 2 1/2 cups flour; beat well. Turn dough out onto a well-floured board; knead about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic, adding only enough flour to make dough easy to handle.
  • SHAPE dough into ball. Spray a large bowl with no-stick cooking spray. Place dough in prepared bowl, turning dough over to coat. Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  • PUNCH down dough. Shape as directed in desired recipe.
