Apple Ooey Gooey Cake
INGREDIENTS
Crust:
1 box Pillsbury™ Yellow Cake Mix
1 stick butter, melted
2 eggs
Apple Layer:
2-3 apples, peeled and diced
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Topping:
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, room temperature
2 eggs
1 (1 lb) box of powdered sugar plus more for sprinkling on the finished cake
1 tsp vanilla
PREPARATION DIRECTIONS
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350ºF degrees.
Step 2
To make the apple layer, add the butter, brown sugar, apples, and cinnamon to a saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes until the apples are soft, stirring occasionally. Be careful not to let the sugar burn. Remove from heat.
Step 3
For the crust, add the cake mix, butter, and eggs to a mixing bowl and beat until combined, then spread in an even layer into a 9 x 13 pan.
Step 4
For the topping, add the cream cheese, eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla to a mixing bowl and beat until creamy.
Step 5
To assemble, spoon the apple mixture over the crust. Then, pour the topping and spread evenly to the edges.
Step 6
Bake for 35 minutes or until the cake is lightly browned around the edges, the center may appear jiggly. Let cool, then sprinkle on powdered sugar. Enjoy!
